Founded by the Phoenicians in 600 BC, Marseille is the oldest city in France! Also marked by the passage of the Romans, the city was later developed through a true cultural blend around its Old Port, protected by its two forts, Fort Saint-Nicolas and Fort Saint-Jean.
The Old Port, at the very heart of the city, is an essential stop to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of its fish market and lively docks, especially during the evening football matches of the city's team, Olympique de Marseille. This spot also offers the chance to taste the famous local dish, bouillabaisse.
